When you think of "wall panels," you might conjure up thoughts of those dated floor-to-ceiling faux wood planks that lined the walls of many homes back in the day. But these days, wall panels are much more polished, modern, and sophisticated, and can turn a room from drab to fab.

Wainscoting is also a great way to decorate your walls, which is simply wall paneling that covers just the lower half or third of a wall. It also has a protective aspect to it.

Panel Molding and Chair Rail Originally used on the sides of MDF strips and top of it is now being seen in the most sophisticated homes thanks to its modernized approach. This type of wood paneling  use wood molding, as well as varying degrees of widths, from narrow to wide.

The wood panels can be applied vertically or horizontally, depending on the exact look you're going for. You can also choose to cover the entire height of the wall, or just the upper or lower portion.

Shiplap. Another type of wall paneling that has traditional roots in settings other than homes is shiplap. Used back in the 19thy century among shipbuilders constructing boats with wood panels, shiplap features notched edges that overlap when joined together to seal them. Today, shiplap is added to interior walls using wall-mounting wood or MDF planks, which can either be installed vertically or horizontally
